Anton Pointner

Anton Pointner ( born December 8, 1894 in Salzburg, † September 8, 1949 in Hintersee ) was an Austrian actor.

Life

Pointner had his first engagement in 1907 in Lahr. His other theater venues were Pilsen, Dusseldorf (1911 ) and Brno. After that he worked in Vienna and from 1920 in Berlin, for example, at the Lessing Theatre and the State Theatre. His roles included the title role of Hamlet, MELCHTAL in William Tell and Prince Karl -Heinz in Old Heidelberg.

From 1920 he was a busy silent film actor. The athletic actor embodied in supporting roles powerful, tough characters. In 1930 he went to Hollywood and starred in German versions of American films (eg in people behind bars, the German version of The Big House). At the time of National Socialism in Germany Pointner was still used in numerous productions and introduced in 1936 in the Fridericus Rex movie Fridericus the Emperor Franz I. dar.
