Anton Salvesen

Anton " Tony" Salvesen (* 1927) is a former Norwegian luger.

Salvesen began with the luge at the age of 18 years and has been several times Norwegian champion. His only international success had the ship broker, when he in 1955 at the first luge World Cup at home against the Austrians Josef Thaler and Joseph Isser won the title and became the first world champion. To-date ( 2010) this is the only Norwegian World Championship medal in this sport. In the doubles competition Salvesen finished sixth with his partner Alf Large. Subsequently, the 28 -year-old ended his career and moved occupationally abroad. In 1979, Salvesen, who was the father of two daughters and a son at this time, as part of the World Cup in 1979 another public appearance when he performed the ceremony along with the other honorees of 1955.
