Antón Darío Villatoro ( born June 20, 1970 in Boulder, Colorado, United States ) is a former American- Guatemalan cyclist.

Career

Villatoro was born in Colorado, the son of a Guatemalan and an American woman. He studied at the University of Colorado and earned a degree in International Business and Marketing.

As an amateur, won Villatoro 1991, the Guatemala tour. Three years later, he secured with the Guatemalan national gold medal in the team time trial of the Central American Games, and also was Guatemalan champion in the road race. In 1995 he went to at the Pan American Games and finished fourth in the individual time trial. Villatoro represented Guatemala in 1996 at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta in its U.S. adopted country and was the 25th time trial competition.

Following the Olympic Games was Villatoro professional with the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, where he served primarily as a helper. He played in 1998 as the first Guatamalteke the classic Tour of Flanders and Paris -Roubaix. He could not finish the race, but made in the Tour of Flanders attention through its participation in a breakaway of a 15-person top group.

For the 1999 season, he joined the American GS3 team 7 UP Colorado Cyclist, where he was a key driver. In the same year he again took part in the Pan American Games. At the national championships of the USA in the road race took the bronze medal. In the sprint, he had to be here only Marty Jemison and Fred Rodriguez defeated. In 1999 it Villatoro after three years, another victory when he was successful on the second stage of the Tour of Willamette in the USA.

In 2001, Villatoro ended his career as a professional cyclist. After his career he has worked in the field of sports management.
