Anton Wilhelm Solnitz

Anton Wilhelm Solnitz (also: Sollnitz * 1708, † 1752 in Leiden, other sources: * 1722, † 1752 or 1753 in Leiden or The Hague ) was a German - Bohemian composer.

Like his countryman Johann Andreas Kauchlitz few decades later held Solnitz throughout his musically productive life in the Dutch Republic, whose former wealth attracted musicians from all over Europe. He worked in Leiden and The Hague, for one mentioned in Fétis and Eitner stay in Amsterdam, there is no evidence. His works were printed from 1738 in Amsterdam and Leiden. According to Ernst Ludwig Gerber, a strong champion who reportedly died of his drunkenness and impoverished.

A derived from the hand of Herman van der Mijns Portrait of the Artist ( 1743, oil on canvas, 18.8 x 15 cm) was sold at Sotheby's in 2005.

Solnitz three-movement symphonies that were widespread in northern Europe are influenced by Antonio Vivaldi and Giovanni Battista Sammartini. The three-movement chamber works also document the transition from baroque to galant - style.
