Anton Winkler

Anton Winkler ( born February 23, 1954 in Berchtesgaden ) was one of the most successful luger the second half of the 1970s.

Anton Winkler in 1978 was the first overall winner of the newly introduced World Cup for luger before the great Italian luger Paul Hildgartner. At the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid Winkler won the bronze medal at the World Championships in 1978 in Imst, he finished second, in the previous year in Igls third parties. In 1979, he won again with Anton Wembacher bronze, this time in the doubles. In 1977 he was European champion at the European Championships in Koenigssee. German master was Winkler in 1976 and 1980.
