Antonello Cuccureddu (born 4 October 1949 in Alghero, Italy ) is a retired Italian footballer and current football coach.

Career

The Sardinian central defender Antonello Cuccureddu began his career in the mid-1960s at Cagliari Calcio at the side of the legendary striker Luigi Riva. About Brescia Calcio, he finally came in 1969 to Juventus, where he became the best pre Oppern the Serie A in the 1970s and Italian international was. Between 1975 and 1978 graduated Cuccureddu 13 caps for the Azzurri. His only major tournament he played at the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina, where he was initially only used as a substitute for Mauro Bellugi. In the last game of the second final round he then was there from the start and played the game for third place against Brazil, which lost its team with 1:2. His career ended in 1982 at Fiorentina, after he had collected six league titles with Juventus in twelve years.

For the 1994/95 season Cuccureddu was coach of the Primavera team at Juve. In the 1997/98 season, he worked as a coach at third division Acireale Calcio. Other engagements at FC Crotone, al -Ittihad and U.S. Avellino followed. In Avellino Cuccureddu was released shortly before the season ends and after he accepted a job offer at the Sassari Torres. Even there, however, he lasted only one season and even in his later engagements in the U.S. Grosseto and AC Perugia was granted him little success.

As of March 24, 2009 Antonello Cuccureddu worked as a trainer at Delfino Pescara 1936 in the Lega Pro Prima Divisione, there was, however, on 12 January 2010 due to the two days before suffered defeat at home against the SS Cavese dismissed. His successor was the former Italian international Eusebio Di Francesco.
