Antoni Hawełka

Anton Hawes, Polish Antoni Hawełka (born 17 January 1840 in Kety, † 14 January 1894) was a Polish businessman and restaurateur.

Life

Since the Industrial Act of 1860 allowed the freedom to pursue in Galicia, Hawes worked first as a trading assistant in Krakow companies like J. Wentzl before he became a merchant and restaurateur.

In 1876 he started his own business and opened on 46 Rynek his grocery store "Pod Palma " ( Under the palm ). He was successful and the company expanded by opened a restaurant at Rynek 35. There he ran a for that time typical and popular breakfast business.

Popular products were sandwiches of all kinds Additionally, there was a vodka and wine warehouse and French cognac. Hawes was known outside of Krakow to abroad. He supplied the Greek as well as the court of Vienna. Due to the high quality of its products and services he received the imperial Hoflieferantentitel awarded.

Hawes financed from its own funds the renovation of St. Anton 's Chapel in St. Mary's Church. He died without issue and was buried at the cemetery Rakowicki. To his heirs, he had made his trade assistants Franz Macharski of the A. Hawełka further led successful.
