Antonietta Di Martino

Antonietta Di Martino ( born June 1, 1978 in Cava de ' Tirreni) is an Italian athlete. The high jump in 2007 and 2011 Second third in the outdoor world championships.

Di Martino improved in 2000, their previous best performance by ten centimeters from 1.78 m to 1.88 m. In 2001 she was able to further increase by ten centimeters to 1.98 meters. Only in 2007, they managed to improve on, over 2.00 m in the hall, it improved to 2.03 m outdoors. She won the Italian championship in 2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010; in the hall she won in 2003, 2006 and 2007.

Only four and a half years later she appeared again at major championships. At the World Indoor Championships in Moscow in 2006 she won with 1.96 m in fifth place. At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007 she won her first international medal; 1.96 meters she finished second behind the Croatian Blanka Vlasic, who had crossed 2.05 m. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, she came in at number eight. The following year, she finished fourth at the World Championships in Berlin. In February 2011, they improved the Italian indoor record to 2.04 m. At the European Indoor Championships in Paris shortly after she celebrated her first international title with 2.01 meters. At the World Championships in Daegu she won with 2.00 m in third place, the only Italian medal ever in these championships. At the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul in 2012, she won another silver medal.
