Antonín Kraft

Anton Kraft (* December 30 1752 in Rokycany, West Bohemia, † August 28, 1820 in Vienna) was a Bohemian composer and cellist.

Life

After studying philosophy at the Charles University in Prague, Anton took power lessons with Johann Werner on cello and Joseph Haydn in the theory of composition. He became in 1778 the first cellist of Prince Nicolaus Esterházy I. Joseph, was from 1791 to 1796 musician in the chapel of Prince Grassalkovich and from 1796 to 1820 at the Prince Lobkowitz. Force was a founding member of the Schuppanzigh Quartet, and founder of the Vienna Cello School. In his death year - 1820 - he was still a teacher at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. He lived most recently in the Lower Breunerstraße No 1196, where he "at the debilitation " died on August 28, 1820.

Anton Kraft was the father of the royal Württemberg court musician Nikolaus Kraft ( born December 14, 1778 in Sopron, † May 18, 1852 in Eger ) and Franziska force on May 9, 1803 composer and Kapellmeister Antonio Casimir Cartellieri ( 1772-1807 ) married.
