Antonino Calderone

Antonio Calderone ( born October 24, 1935 in Catania, † 10 January 2013) was a high-ranking member of the Sicilian Cosa Nostra criminal organization. He became famous for his collaboration as Pentito with the State from 1987.

Calderone was the nephew of the same name Antonio Calderone, who was involved in the 1925 founding of the first Mafia family in Catania and brother of high-ranking Mafioso Giuseppe Calderone. He was arrested in Nice in 1986 and the investigating authorities provided detailed descriptions of the Cosa Nostra and its activities since 1987. The protocol includes 867 pages, it had, among other things 160 arrest warrants for result. In March 1991, the sociologist and officials Pino Arlacchi led over 40 hours long conversations with Calderone from which the best-selling Mafia arose from within.
