Antonio Brivio

Antonio Brivio ( born January 30, 1905 in Biella, † January 20, 1995 in Milan ) was an Italian race car driver, bobsledder and motor sports official.

Brivio came from the family of Sforza and began his motorsport career 1927. From 1932 he was part of the factory team, Alfa Romeo, whose operations were carried out in 1935 by the Scuderia Ferrari, for whom he played numerous Grand Prix and sports car racing.

Among his greatest successes in the sports car segment include a victory in the 24 -hour race in Spa- Francorchamps ( 1932), two victories at the Targa Florio (1933 and 1935 ) and a victory in the Mille Miglia (1936). His greatest successes in Grand Prix races were a third place at the GP of Monaco in 1935 and the Eifel race in 1936. Besides he participated, among others, the Bobbewerben at the Olympic Winter Games in 1936. After his marriage in 1937 he gave up racing.

After the Second World War he was motor sports official, he became a member of the Italian Automobile Club and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA ), where he was involved in the introduction of the Formula 1 World Championship.

Brivio died in 1995.
