Antonio Citterio

Antonio Citterio ( born 1950 in Meda ) is an Italian architect.

Life

Citterio visited until 1972, the Politecnico di Milano. After graduating in architecture, he opened with Paolo Nava and worked as an industrial designer before the architecture and design of home furnishings dedicated himself. In 1999 he founded with Patricia Viel, the Milan office " Antonio Citterio and Partners ". Citterio sees itself primarily as an architect, who always understands the space in itself as a basis for product design. Since 1999 he teaches at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio / Switzerland, at the Domus Academy in Milan and at the University "La Sapienza " in Rome.

Overview

To Citterio's designs include, among others seating, shelves, door handles, beds, kitchen facilities and full bathrooms. He has worked with renowned names from the international residential designs such as Arclinea, B & B Italia, Kartel and Vitra. Since 2001, he designed bathrooms worlds for Axor / Hansgrohe AG. 1979 and 1987 he was awarded the Compasso D' Oro for his work. 2002 him the magazine " A & W Architektur & Wohnen", Hamburg chose "Designer of the Year". In 2007 he was in the UK for " Royal Designer for Industry". He is a member of the Italian Council for Design since 2007.
