Antonio de Guevara

Antonio de Guevara (* 1480 in Treceño, Cantabria, † April 3, 1545 in Mondoñedo, Lugo Province, Spain) was a Spanish writer of the province of Álava and imaginative historian. He decorated his few templates with fictional representations.

Life

He came from an impoverished nobility, came at a young age to the court of Emperor Charles V and held as a Franciscan high office. He was the official chronicler, inquisitor, Bishop of Guadix and Mondoñedo in A Coruña. In his moral works he recommends turning away from the ideal of courtly life.
