In 1991 he moved to New York where he worked with Roy Hargrove. After a series of albums for the jazz label Novus was founded in 1996 with guest musicians like Robin Eubanks, Shirley Scott and Amadou Diallo Album Here I Stand on Impulse! Records. He plays an unobtrusive modern jazz, the pieces are kept short or implied in ballads character, but are used by the participating musicians detail to improvise, so the listener may get the impression that it was a complicated and falsely "free" music. Remarkable for its very good intonation, the applicable among jazz musicians as difficult alto saxophone.
