Antonio Lasciac

Antonio Lasciac ( born September 21, 1856 in Gorizia; † 26 December 1946 in Cairo ) was an Italian architect, engineer, poet and musician.

Working as an architect, he was out in his home town of Gorizia in many cities of the Middle East, especially in Egypt.

Life

Lasciac studied at a technical university in Vienna architecture. From 1883 to 1888 he was involved in the reconstruction of European-influenced city center of Alexandria, which had been bombed in 1882 by the English. After brief stints in Naples and Rome, he returned to Alexandria, where he was supported by the Egyptian government, especially by the Khedive family as an architect. Under Abbas Hilmi Pasha, he was palace official architect.
