Antonio McDyess

Antonio McDyess Keithflen ( born September 7, 1974 in Quitman, Mississippi ) is a retired American professional basketball player in the NBA.

NBA career

McDyess was drafted in 1995 in the second place from the Los Angeles Clippers and shortly afterwards transferred to the Denver Nuggets. For his achievements in the first year as a pro, he was appointed to the NBA All- Rookie First Team. With the Nuggets, he had his most successful period, where he hung up on average 20 points and 9 rebounds. With a break in 1997-98, in which he played for the Phoenix Suns, McDyess was a leading player of the Nuggets and was appointed to the All- NBA Third Team in 1999 and invited in 2001 NBA All- Star Game.

During the 2001-02 season McDyess suffered a serious knee injury. He completed only 10 games for the Nuggets and fell the entire 2002-03 season out. After brief stops at the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, in 2004 he joined the reigning NBA champion Detroit Pistons. In Detroit McDyess came mainly as a replacement for Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace of the bank. By 2008, the 2.06 m wide McDyess was active then at the Detroit Pistons. As part of a player exchange McDyess returned in November 2008, back to Denver, but was soon released and joined again the Pistons on.

In July 2009 he moved to the San Antonio Spurs, where he ended his career after the season 2010/2011.

National

At the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, he was part of the U.S. selection, who won the gold medal.
