Antonio Palocci

Antonio Palocci ( born October 4, 1960) is a Brazilian politician of the Partido dos Trabalhadores. He was a deputy, Finance Minister and Chief of Cabinet.

Life

Palocci has a degree in medicine at the University of São Paulo. He was from January 1, 2003 to March 27, 2006 Finance Minister of his country in the cabinet of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In the course of mensalão scandal told his housekeeper to have seen the Minister for money transfers and parties with prostitutes. Without a legal basis, the Ministry broke bank secrecy of the householder and a weekly magazine then published the information, the housekeeper had been bribed by the opposition in order to load the Minister of Finance. At the same time, the Ministry launched a money laundering case against the housekeeper in the way. Then it turned out that the responsible for the article reporter is the son of a counselor of the Minister and the accounts of the householder did not confirm the allegations. President Lula dismissed the minister.

Palocci was from 2006 to 2010 deputy in the Brazilian Parliament.

Under Dilma Rousseff, he held the position of Chef de Cabinet. From this post he stepped on charges of illegal enrichment back even though the Attorney General's Office dismissed the case against him on the same day on 7 June 2011. According to the allegations, he is said to have twenty-fold increase his fortune during his time deputies.
