Antonio Pasculli

Antonio Pasculli ( born October 13, 1842 in Palermo, † February 23, 1924 ) was an Italian oboist and composer.

Life

Antonio Pasculli was in Italy very popular in the late 19th century when " were in fashion " there for a short time Concertos for Wind Instruments; after the turn of the century he was quickly forgotten again. As was common practice at the time, he reached for his lectures on themes from operas ( for example, by Vincenzo Bellini, Gaetano Donizetti, Gioacchino Rossini and Giuseppe Verdi), which he then fashioned into fantasies for oboe. Characteristic of his style are very fast scales and broken chords, which can literally bring the soloist hardly time to breath.

Work

Some of the z.T. illegible manuscripts, as well as the instruments of the great oboist were given in recognition of his services to Pascullis work of his two at that time ( 1985) still living daughters Concetta (born 1898) and Laura ( geb.1902 ), the Italian oboist Omar Zoboli.
