Antonio Spadavecchia

Antonio Emmanuilovich Spadawekkia (Antonio Spadavecchia ) (Russian Антонио Эммануилович Спадавеккиа; * 21 Maijul / June 3 1907greg in Odessa, .. † 7 February 1988) was a Soviet composer.

Life and work

Spadawekkia was of Italian descent and studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Vissarion Schebalin and later by Sergei Prokofiev. After graduating in 1937 he worked as a music teacher and freelance composer.

In addition to ten operas and ballets he composed a two symphonic suite, an overture about Bashkir folk songs, a piano concerto, chamber music, songs, drama and film music.

Spadawekkia died on February 7, 1988 and was buried in Moscow on Kunzewoer cemetery.

Membership and Honors

Spadawekkia was a member of the CPSU since 1944. In 1977 he received the " People's Artist of the RSFSR ."
