Antonio Tajani

Antonio Tajani ( * August 4, 1953 in Rome) is an Italian politician of the conservative Forza Italia (2009-2013 Popolo della Libertà, previously Forza Italia ) and since 2008 a member of the European Commission.

Life

He finished his law studies with the graduation at the Roman La Sapienza University. In 1982, he was editor of the Italian newspaper Il Settimanale, 1983, he headed the newspaper Il Giornale. Tajani is a founder of the right-wing Italian party Forza Italia and in 1994, was press secretary of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. Since June 2001 Tajani is a member of the City Council of Rome.

Antonio Tajani had since the fourth term, that is, since the European elections in 1994, Member of the European Parliament. He was a member of the EPP-ED group, whose vice chairman, he was. He was also head of Forza Italia delegation in the European Parliament and member of the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
