Antonio Zucchi

Antonio Zucchi ( born May 1, 1726 Venice, † December 26, 1795 in Rome) was an Italian painter of classicism.

Zucchi was a pupil of the painter Francesco Fontebasso and Jacopo Amigoni. Zucchi created a greater number of etch engravings of the directions capriccio ( Deckblatt-Illustrationen/Figurenfüllungen/Landschaften ) and vistas of classical buildings and ruins. He worked with Robert Adam in the decoration of castles in England. In 1770 he was named in England as a member of the Royal Academy of Arts.

Antonio Zucchi and the painter Angelika Kauffmann married in 1781 in London. Together with the father, Joseph Johann Kauffmann, who was also a painter, they moved first from London to Venice, and after his death to Rome.

Zucchi and Angelica Kauffmann are buried Fratte in the Roman church of Sant'Andrea delle.
