Antonov An-218

The Antonov An -218 was a project of the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer Antonov.

The design called for a low-wing passenger aircraft with two jet engines, which was designed as a widebody aircraft for medium-range similar to the Airbus A330. The design work began in 1991.

The detailed solutions of the An- 218 were based on those of the models Antonov An-124 and Antonov An-70 and Tupolev Tu- 204.

The chassis design and the performances were designed so that the machine could be used by the same airfields as a Tupolev Tu- 154M from. In addition to comfort, cargo loading and unloading and ease of service was especially placed on the fuel consumption, special attention.

Were designed by 200 to about 400 passengers variants. The avionics was based on the latest standards to Cat. IIIA ICAO. The cockpit should be equipped with six screens and automates accordingly.

The original timetable saw the first flight in 1994 before the certification should take place in 1995. The project, however, was previously set.
