Geography
Geographical Location
Antrifttal lies in the valley of the river Antrift, a tributary of the Schwalm, between the Vogelsberg in the south and the Knüllgebirge in the Northeast.
The municipal area of 26.59 km ² ( 14.3 km ² ) is used 54% for agriculture.
Neighboring communities
Antrifttal borders in the north on the community Willinghausen ( Schwalm -Eder- Kreis), in the east and south to the city of Alsfeld, on the west by the city Kirtorf and in the northwest to the city of Neustadt ( Marburg- Biedenkopf ).

History
As part of the municipal reform in Hesse joined on 31 December 1971, the five municipalities Bernburg, Ohmes, Ruhlkirchen, Seibelsdorf and Vockenrod together and since then form the municipality Antrifttal.

In the last election on 22 September 2013, the independent candidate Dietmar Krist was chosen. He replaces the long-standing incumbent nonparty Mayor John Averdung. There were no opposing candidates. The turnout was 83.3%. His office enters the new mayor on 1 February 2014.

In addition, the district Seibelsdorf maintains a friendly partnership with Seibelsdorf at Marktrodach in Upper Franconia.

Economy
In 2013, a wind farm was built in the district of the district Ruhlkirchen consisting of four wind turbines of the type Nordex N117/2400 that were designed as low-wind turbines specifically for inland locations. The plants each have a rated output of 2.4 MW, a rotor diameter of 117 meters and a hub height of 140 meters, the total height is just 198 meters. The wind farm was the beginning of November 2013 put into operation and will provide electricity for about 6,600 three -person households per year.
Attractions
Sights are next to beautiful half-timbered houses, the medieval Protestant church in Bernburg and the remains of a moated castle from the 13th century in Ruhlkirchen. Extensive deciduous and coniferous forests and rolling surveys of fields and meadows characterize the between Vogelsberg and Knüllgebirge beautifully situated mountain landscape. It is ideal for hiking, horseback riding and carriage driving or Antrift Reservoir for swimming and fishing.

In the district of Ruhlkirchen there is a primary school and a kindergarten.
