Antrim, County Antrim

Antrim ( Irish: Aontroim ) is a city in the northeast of Northern Ireland, on the banks of the river Six Mile Water and Lough Neagh of, the main town of the traditional county of the same name and the administrative seat of the district of the same name. The city is located about 35 km north-west of Northern Ireland's capital Belfast and has about 20,000 inhabitants ( 2001 census).

History

At the time of King Edward III. a battle between the Irish and British was fought near Antrim.
