Anund GÃ¥rdske
Anund Gårdske, whose real name is unknown, was King of Sweden about 1070-1075 after Halsten Stenkilsson had been driven from the throne.
Life
Little is known about Anund Gårdskes reign. He probably never went to Uppsala, to pick up the crown. He belonged to the same family as Erik the Victory Merry, that is the old royal family of Uppsala. We do know that he came from Russia, hence the nickname, Anund the Russian.
1075 accepted the Sweden Haakon the Red from Västergötland as their king.
The name Anund Gårdske means Anund från Gardarike, ie Anund from Gardarike.
