Anura Bandaranaike

Anura Bandaranaike (* February 15, 1949 in Colombo, † March 16, 2008 ) was a Sri Lankan politician.

Life

Bandaranaike was born as the son of SWRD Bandaranaike and Sirimavo Bandaranaike whose wife, both Prime Minister in Sri Lanka. His sister was later President Chandrika Kumaratunga. When Bandaranaike was ten years old, his father died. Bandaranaike was during his career, especially opposition politicians, although he was involved as Foreign Minister and later as a tourist and most recently as Heritage Minister, also in the government. In addition, he had been temporarily Speaker of Parliament. The end of 2007 he moved back to the opposition and resigned from his position in early 2008 low.

On March 16, 2008 Anura Bandaranaike died after a short illness in Colombo.
