Anzonico

Anzonico was until March 31, 2012, a municipality in the district of Faido in the district of Leventina in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

On April 1, 2012, it merged with the municipalities Calpiogna, Campello, Cavagnago, Chironico, Mairengo and Osco to the existing community Faido.

The village Anzonico lies on the eastern flank of the Valle Leventina to 972 meters and has about 100 inhabitants. Anzonico lies on the Strada Alta. Together with Calonico, Cavagnago and Sobrio forms Anzonico the so-called Traversa.

In a referendum held in March 2004, the citizens of Anzonico have rejected the merger of their community with Faido, Osco, Mairengo, Calpiogna, Campello, Rossura, Calonico, Chiggiogna, Cavagnago and Sobrio.
