Berg fine singer ( Apalis porphyrolaema )

The fine singer ( Apalis ) are a genus of small songbirds of the family of Halmsängerartigen. Their habitat is forests and bushland in sub-Saharan Africa. The fine singers are of slight build. The tail is long and thin beak. At the top, they are brown, gray or green colored. Some species have a brightly colored bottom. Males and females usually look the same, but the males are sometimes dyed bright. The food of the fine singers consists mainly of insects.

The fine singers were formerly classified in the family of warbler -like. Modern classifications, today they form the family of Halmsängerartigen. There are about 27 species. Two Halmsänger species, the Rotkappensänger and long beak singers who were formerly associated with the fine singers today are either the genus or the genus Artisornis the tailor birds ( Orthotomus ).
