Apatzingán

Apatzingán or completely Apatzingán de la Constitución is a Mexican city in the state of Michoacan.

The city's name was taken from the Indian Nahuatl: apatzincan ("place with small rivers " ) ← apan (river) tzin ( diminutive ) can ( place )

History

In May 2011, fled from Apatzingán 2500 inhabitants and the surrounding area from the violence of the drug war in Mexico. Members of a drug cartel detained for two days a street in the city. The government urged residents to leave the city and about 40 schools were closed.
