Apayao

Apayao is a domestic province to the north of the Philippines. It belongs to the third income class of the provinces in the Philippines. The population is 112 636 ( census May 1 2010 ) People who live in seven municipalities and 133 barangays.

It belongs to the Cordillera Administrative Region, the capital of the province is Kabugao. In the east and north it borders on the province of Cagayan, on the west by Ilocos Norte, Abra and on the south by Kalinga. The province is located in the northern part of the Central Cordelliera. The topography is very mountainous due to the mountainous character. The high mountain ranges in the south of the province are separated by deeply incised valleys and flat to the north. The province is located for the most part in the water catchment area of the river Abulug, which is also known under the name of Apayao.
