APCOA Parking

APCOA is Europe's largest parking operator. The company operates parking lots and parking garages and provides services for cities and municipalities in connection with the management of public park space.

Structure

Between 1994 and 2003 the company was as APCOA Holding AG listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Meanwhile, the shares of the APCOA Parking Holdings GmbH are held, which is indirectly via the APCOA Group GmbH is 100% owned by the private equity firm Eurazeo (Paris). APCOA managed in 2012 to 7,200 locations around 1.3 million parking spaces. The company operates in 13 European countries.

The APCOA Parking Holdings GmbH and its subsidiary APCOA Parking AG are pure holding companies. Business in Germany is in their daughter APCOA Parking Germany GmbH ( to 24 February 2013: APCOA Auto parking GmbH) bundled. The turnover in 2011 amounted to 207.7 million euros, profit before profit 1.3 million euros.

History

1947 APCOA was as Airport Parking Corporation Of America, Inc. based in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The company has a checkered history, in addition to the expansion by setting up subsidiaries and acquisitions in Europe, the company also changed ownership several times.

1970 saw the establishment of the German APCOA Auto parking GmbH (Stuttgart) and the Austrian APCOA Parking Austria (Vienna). In the period following subsidiaries in Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Switzerland and Turkey were founded.

APCOA was adopted in 2000 to 98.5 % of the Salamander AG, which then belonged to EnBW. As at 30 June 2004, the now fully acquired company was sold to the private equity investor Investcorp, which further sold it in 2007 to the French private equity company Eurazeo.

In the same year, a few months after the sale to Eurazeo, APCOA took over all the European offices of Central Parking System (CPS) - with the exception of Greece. In the UK, thereby nearly doubled the business activity. With Ireland and Spain, two new countries were added and APCOA was now present in 15 European countries. The number of employees grew by 1,720 to 4,550. The number of parking facilities increased from 3,550 to 3,650, which the plots of 760,000 to 860,000. In Germany CPS was spun off to the newly founded APCOA Parking Services GmbH (APS). APS was incorporated on August 18, 2011 in the mother -GmbH so I stopped to exist.
