Aphelenchoides

Aphelenchoides ritzemabosi

Blattälchen ( Aphelenchoides ) are a genus of nematodes ( Nematoda ). The species live partly parasitic plants or fungi, and some species are dreaded pests for crops.

Description

Blattälchen be between 0.5 and 1.2 millimeters long and are very slim. All types of the genus have a large Metacorpus. Rear Reclining lobes of glandular tissue covering dorsal side of the gut space. The stylet ( a primitive mouth tool ) is provided slender, with small pimples. The dorsal glands open just before the contractile organ in the lumen of the esophagus ( gullet). The ventral glands open behind the contractile organ in the lumen of the esophagus. The rear end is stachelspitzig in some species of the genus.

Nutrition

Blattälchen endoparasitär live in deciduous leaves of plants, can also feed ectoparasitically of leaves and flower buds of some plants.

Many species of the genus live fungi, these species are distributed mostly in the ground or in the benthos in the aquatic environment. They generally have shorter stylet ( less than 8 microns) than the species that feed on plants.

The genus is large and currently contains more than 150 species. Some well-known types are:
