Aphilas

Aphilas was a king of the Aksumitisches Empire in Africa. He reigned at the beginning of the fourth century and is known almost exclusively by his coins. These embossments are characterized by a series of experiments. They show different, not later cars with weights and he coined the smallest ever issued in Sub Saharan Africa gold coin, which represented one-sixteenth of the Roman aureus. These coins bear the inscription AΦΙ / ΛAC / BACI / ΛEY ( Aphilas the king ), other coins denote Aphilas explicitly as King of Axumites and as a man (?) Of Dimele.
