Apisai Ielemia

Apisai Ielemia ( born August 19, 1955 Vaitupu ) is a politician of the Pacific island state of Tuvalu and was between 2006 and 2010 the head of government.

In the 15 - member parliament, he represented the island of Tuvalu Vaitupu. In the parliamentary elections of August 3, 2006, then Prime Minister Maatia Toafa suffered a defeat. Subsequently, the Parliament elected the Opposition politicians Ielemia to Toafas successor. Ielemia is the 10th Prime Minister of Tuvalu, and has also held the post of foreign minister.
