Apollonius the Apologist

Apollonius, also known as the apologist, († September 21 184 or 185 in Rome ) was a Christian apologist, martyr and saint.

Apollonius was a Roman citizen, who was denounced by his slaves at Perennis, the prefect of the imperial bodyguard, as a Christian. Perennis was Apollonius interrogate then to persuade him to apostasy from Christianity, whereupon Apollonius gave a defense speech to the Roman Senate, which, though praised by St. Jerome and in the Acts of the Martyrs of Apollonius high, the Senate but not prevented her from the death penalty to decide against him. Apollonius was beheaded then.

Commemoration of the Holy is the 21st of April in the Catholic, April 18 in the Protestant and July 23 in the Orthodox Church. His bones are said to have been brought into portuguese Ebora to Bologna and his head.
