Apollos

Apollo is a figure from the New Testament of the Bible.

Apollos was a learned, eloquent and solid bible in the Old Testament Jew from Alexandria. He knew and preached the Christian gospel in Ephesus, but was in some details misinformed. So he knew only the baptism of John, but not the baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, which also means the reception of the Holy Spirit upon the forgiveness of sins also. Aquila and Priscilla heard him in the synagogue, took him to live with him and gave him precise instruction (Acts 18.24 to 26 EU).

From Ephesus he went with a letter of recommendation from community after Achaea and sat in Corinth the work of Paul successfully continued (Acts 18.27 to 28 EU). (1 Corinthians 1:12 LUT) can but suspect that his message was different in each of the nuances of Paul, so that made ​​parties in the Corinthian church.

Years later, the author of the letter mentions Titus ( the authorship of Paul is debatable ) Apollos again in Tit 3,13 EU and puts Titus concern for him and his traveling companions Zenas the heart.

After the early church tradition Apollos was said to be in Illyria, the first bishop of the Christian community of Durres.

In the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians, Paul mentions that he has urged Apollos to visit the church at Corinth. However, he was at the time not willing (1 Corinthians 16:12 LUT).
