Apollyon Sun

Apollyon Sun were an industrial metal band from Switzerland, which was founded under the name Apollyon 's Sun.

Band History

Apollyon Sun 's previous band Celtic emerged after the end of Thomas " Warrior" Gabriel Fischer frost. 1994 Fischer got a call from guitarist Erol Daaé because of a production; because they fit together well, Fischer took him into a music project that developed after a few months into a real band. The first sample of Apollyon 's Sun took place in the late spring of 1995, with Stephen Priestly supported them during the first few months when samples. After Apollyon Sun existed for three months, the band around a stake in the Sampler In Memory of was. . . Asked Celtic Frost and took on the Celtic Frost Cover Babylon Fell for this as their first piece of music; the band Procreation ( of the Wicked ) or Dethroned Emperor originally wanted to contribute, but they were already taken. Fischer had added to Dwell Records contact after he had learned of the planned sampler and wanted to ask in this regard by fax. The band also arranged in their early pieces such as Control by Traci Lords, L'instant X of Mylène Farmer and Eric " IQ" Gray's Fight Fashion and rehearsed Celtic Frost Procreation ( of the Wicked ) by Sepultura Arrangement and Dethroned Emperor, Mesmerized and unpublished Celtic Frost titles such as Pearl of Love and Primeval Rapture. The first real sign of life Fischer described their EP, which was released in 1998. 2000 was followed by the debut album and the EP Sub Sub sampler.

The originally planned continuation of the band is excluded, according to Fischer.

Style

While Frank Stoever Babylon Fell still attests a typical metal guitar sound, the first EP are not, Fischer sees no turning away from the metal sound. Compared to the EP, the symbiosis with the samples on the album is homogeneous according to Fischer. On the cold and sterility of the Industrial he had no interest; addition to drums and bass loops and live drums and bass were used to achieve a warmer, closer to the Hard Rock sound. The sound is based on the roots in Celtic Frost, Fischer stresses, however, that we are dealing with a company established in the 1990s, and this time reflective tape at Apollyon Sun. For Götz Kühnemund from the outset was by its own account, " [n ] f course [ ... ] clear that APOLLYON SUN would have stylistically little to do with Celtic Frost - that the band but such experiments goes to work, I would not have expected. First of all surprises me how strongly here electronic influences and sound gimmicks were processed, which of course go to the expense of the Metal element. Even Tom's vocals have hardly what, Metallic ' per se, although they pretty morbid and evil " sound. " According to his colleagues Boris emperor can " the atmosphere of the plate can be described as a direct continuation of old frost -disc " while the musical style means " completely different " are. In contrast to bands like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, the band let in the processing of electronic elements " any accessibility miss [ ... ]. Instead, ask for tracks like, Dweller 'or' Reefer Boy ' after a lot of patience. "This " spherical and deeply atmospheric "Slender mute" as film music. "

The band recorded new versions of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost pieces, said Fischer 's radical revision of Hellhammer title Messiah with the recorded for the Celtic Frost album Into the Pandemonium Wall of Voodoo - piece Mexican Radio compared; this decision baffled some listeners because of Fischer's distancing himself from his former band Hellhammer, he justified it with their absurdity.
