Apoplast

As the apoplast space is called outside of the protoplasts in a plant tissue. The apoplast consists of the totality of all cell walls and intercellular spaces. It is an important place for reactions and stores in the tissue.

As a technical term for the apoplast is, among other things, the term " AFS - apparent free space (apparently blank) " known.

In contrast to the apoplast is the symplast.
