Apostolic Vicariate of Pilcomayo

The Apostolic Vicariate of Pilcomayo (Latin: apostolicus Vicariatus Pilcomayoënsis, Spanish: Vicariate Apostolic de Pilcomayo ) is located in Paraguay Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate with its headquarters in Mariscal Estigarribia.

History

The Apostolic Vicariate of Pilcomayo was born on February 12, 1925 by Pope Pius XI. cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of Chaco built as Apostolic Prefecture Pilcomayo. On May 1, 1929, the Apostolic Prefecture Pilcomayo were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Concepción y Chaco.

The Apostolic Prefecture Pilcomayo was raised on 14 July 1950 to the Apostolic Vicariate. On June 28, 1980, the Vicariate Apostolic of Pilcomayo were parts of its territory from the foundation of the Diocese of Benjamín Aceval.

As Cathedral first served the San Miguel church on the site of the Paraguayan Air Force. In it you will find the grave of popular missionary and apostolic vicar Pa'i Puku. In 2000, the new Saint Mary's Cathedral was consecrated.
