Apostolove Raion

The Rajon Apostolowe (Ukrainian Апостолівський район; Russian Апостоловский район / Apostolowski rayon ) is an administrative unit in the center of Ukraine within the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The Rajon Apostolowe was founded in 1923. It has an area of 1,380 km ² and a population of 57 468 inhabitants ( December 2012). The population density is 42 inhabitants per km ².

The administrative center is the city Apostolowe that lies 175 km southwest of the Oblasthauptstadt Dnipropetrovsk, 45 km north- west of Krivoy Rog and 65 km east of Nikopol.

Geography

The Rajon bordered to the west by the Rajon Schyroke, to the north by Rajon Krivoy Rog and Rajon Sofijiwka, to the east by Rajon Nikopol and the city of Ordzhonikidze, on the southeast by the dammed reservoir to Kachowkaer Dnieper and on the south by the Kherson Oblast with the Rajonen Nowoworonzowka and Wyssokopillja.

By Raion of Basawluk, a 157 km long tributary of the Dnieper River and its tributary, the 88 km long Kamianka flows. The Dnepr Krivoy - Rog - channel runs along its entire length by the Raion and combines, for the purpose of drinking water supply, the reservoir at Kachowkaer Marjanske with the city of Krivoy Rog.

The total utilized agricultural area is 133,000 hectares, including 114,000 hectares of arable land.

Geology

Mineral resources of Rajon has deposits of manganese, bauxite, clay, iron ore, quartz, lignite, granite and limestone. The granite deposits amount to more than 70 million m³.

Climate

In Rajon has a temperate continental climate with relatively cold winters and hot summers. The average annual temperature is between 7 ° and 9 ° C. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of -4 ° to 6 ° C. The warmest month is July with average temperatures between 21 ° and 23 ° C. The sunny days are on average at 240 per year.
