Apostolove

Apostolowe (Ukrainian Апостолове; Russian Апостолово / Apostolovo ) is a city in Ukraine, in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with 14,221 inhabitants ( 2013). The city is an important railway junction at the intersection of two railroad lines, and administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Geography

The Oblasthauptstadt Dnipropetrovsk is located 175 km northeast of the city. At the city by the highway that connects the city to the northwest 45 km with Krivoy Rog and in due course with Kirovohrad and after heading east 65 km to Nikopol and a further 80 kilometers to Zaporizhia leads runs. In addition, the county road T- 0419 runs from Selenodolsk after Sofijiwka through the city. 2 km southwest of the city leads the Dnepr Krivoy - Rog - channel past the town. The city has a railway station on the railroad tracks Krivoy Rog - Komysch - Zorya and Kherson Dnipropetrovsk.

For township Apostolowe the villages still include not only the city itself Ukraiinka (Ukrainian Українка ) ⊙ and Nowomarjaniwka (Ukrainian Новомар'янівка ) ⊙.

History

The city was founded in 1793. Between 1818 and 1923, the place was called Pokrovskoe (Russian Покровское ). During World War II the city was occupied by the German army on August 17, 1941 and freed Riher operation on 5 February 1944 by the Red Army as part of the Nikopol - Krywyj. Since 1956 Apostolowe has the status of a city.
