Appeln is an agriculturally coined the municipality of Beverstedt in the Elbe -Weser Triangle. It lies in the south of the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony. In addition to the self-contained capital of the place still consists of the districts of Abel Horst and Malse.

History

Was first mentioned Appeln in 1035, at that time under the name Appellenn. Archaeological finds urn, however, show that the place was inhabited much earlier.

In recent history was its longtime mayor, the farmer Nicholas Tietjen (1873-1924), of particular importance. He was from 1900 to 1924 and mayor of Appeln 1919-1924 Member of Parliament and member of the Tax Commission assessment of the County Council Geestemünde. The last municipal election was held on 9 September 2006. The nine members of the council were all of voters Community Appeln. Among them was a woman. Mayor was the former local fire chief of the volunteer fire department Appeln, Wilfried Geils, who sat for the SPD in the Council of Samtgemeinde Beverstedt.
