Aprem Mooken

Mar Aprem Mooken ( * 1940 in Thrissur ) is the reigning Metropolitan of India, the Apostolic Church of the East.

George ( baptismal name ) Mooken studied in India, England and the USA. On June 25, 1961 he was ordained a deacon on 13 June 1965 priests. On September 21, 1968 Thomas Darmo ordained him Metropolitan in Baghdad bishop and got him a week later as Metropolitan. On this occasion he took the name Aprem (after Ephrem the Syrian ). First Bishop of the Ancient Church of the East, he led his congregation in 1995, the relationship with the mother church under Catholicos Mar Dinkha IV back.
