Apricena

Apricena is a town with 13,441 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Foggia in the Apulia region and is situated in the southern part of Italy.

Apricena is located about 45 km north of Foggia. The place has one of the at the track Termoli ( CB) station - is Foggia. The journey time to Foggia and to Termoli takes about 30 minutes each. In addition, high above the city nor the Apricena station superiore the railway line San Severo- Peschici. This station is used particularly for train crossings. From the station you can enjoy a remarkable view of the city.

The place with the exit San Severo connection to the A14 Pescara - Foggia. The connection point is about 15 km from the Apricena.

Borders the following municipalities: Lesina, Poggio Imperiale, Rignano Garganico, San Marco in Lamis, San Paolo di Civitate, San Severo and San Nicandro Garganico.

Geographical location

Apricena located in the Gargano and extends into one of the largest lowland areas in Italy. The town is divided by a high level in two parts. The older part is located on the plateau and consists of the old town Apricenas, which is built around the hunting lodge, and the shopping street Via Roma leads to the city park and the residential areas surrounding it.

In the second, lower part Apricenas are the new neighborhoods that were built only a few decades ago, such as the district of 167 or Cottonificio, near which the main street, Via della Madonna is located in the city. This takes its beginning at the church Chiesa della Madonna Incoronata - Located just outside the city - and extends to a small park on the plateau of the city which is decorated with a statue of St. Padre Pio.

Apricena is La cittá del marmo e della pietra ( German: Apricena - The city of marble and stone ) called and is known for the variety of marble and stone industry.

Attractions

The most important cultural monument Apricenas is popularly called Tirriolo hunting palace of Frederick II was built in the reign; with him begins the history of the city.

Policy

Vito Zuccarino (center - left coalition ) was re-elected on 28 May 2007 on the mayor. The center-left alliance also with 13 of 20 seats, the majority in the City Council.
