Aptinus

Aptinus bombarda

Aptinus is a genus of the family of ground beetles ( Carabidae ). It occurs in Europe and Asia Minor.

Features

The beetles are usually more than 10 millimeters long. They are dyed jet black, her body appendages are brown. The elytra are slightly truncated obliquely inwards, on the other hand strongly narrowed to the front. The genus has no shoulder bump. Compared with the Tarsus Brachinus - end links are truncated wider. The elytra strips are deep and have individual, different sized dots on. A chin tooth is present.

System

In Central Europe, only the black bombardier beetle occurs ( Aptinus bombarda ).
