Arab Satellite Communications Organization

Arabsat is the name of geostationary satellites Telekommunikationis the Arab Satellite Communications Organization, short ARABSAT in Riyadh. The organization ARABSAT was founded by the members of the Arab League in 1976.

The new satellites have been renamed and called BADR.

Purpose

The Arabsat satellites are primarily the direct reception of radio and television signals in Arabic.

The satellite

The satellites were basically given by the company Arabsat in order. Due to the increasing demand for transmission capacity but which are in space satellites of other companies have also been leased or transferred.

On 28 February 2006, Arabsat 4A, another name BADR -4, conveyed by a booster rocket, a Proton -M from Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan into space. Due to a malfunction of the upper stage of the Proton rocket Arabsat 4A did not reach its intended orbit and was taken on 24 March 2006 by a braking maneuver into the Earth's atmosphere, where it burned up on schedule.
