Arabsiyo

Region

Arabsiyo is a city in northwestern Somalia, in the region Woqooyi Galbeed. Since the beginning of the Somali civil war, it is managed by the de facto independent Somaliland. Its capital Hargeysa located only about 30 km to the east. According to current calculations Arabsiyo has about 5000 inhabitants, but there are estimated to 20,000.

The settlement is situated on the river of the same within a comparatively fertile land. The city is famous for its celebrations of Ramadan and also popular for weddings. In the valleys outside the city there are more small agricultural settlements such as Huluq, Agamsa, Gogol wanaag, Beeyo - Qalooce, Dhagaxmadoobe, Biyomacaan, Laas Xadhaadh and Gogeysa.
