Arachnology

Arachnologie (from Greek: ἀράχνη ( Arachne ), Spider ' and -logy ) is the science of the arachnids and an area of special zoology.

Examines the Arachnologie

  • Arachnids (Arachnida as a class of pine pawl carrier ) Spiders ( Aranea )
  • Harvestmen ( Opiliones )
  • Roll spiders ( solifugae )
  • Pseudoscorpions ( Pseudoscorpiones )
  • Scorpions ( Scorpiones )
  • Whip scorpions
  • Mites, ticks ( Acari and Ixodes )
  • Scourge spiders ( Amblypygi )

The Arachnologie examined, among other anatomy, lifestyle, behavior, ecological function, the occurrence and distribution of arachnids.

Probably because of the widespread dislike of spiders ( arachnophobia ), the status of research in this discipline is less advanced in comparison to other areas of special zoology. As arachnids colonize every terrestrial ecosystem and even live in the water, also the species and subspecies of families are spread throughout the world and have very high degrees of specialization of different orientations, there is considerable need for research: It is likely that even in Central Europe is still not all species have been described.
