The Arado Ar 440 was a German high-altitude fighter project in World War II Arado Flugzeugwerke.

Developed the aircraft was within the hunter - procurement program 1943/44, based on the Arado Ar 240 For this purpose, all defensive armaments as well as the external load stations were removed from the Ar 240. The pressurized cabin for two crew members was moved to the rear to allow more offensive armament could be fitted into the front. The glazing of the bow accounted therefore, as the B- and C-stand. At the rear, an umbrella-like air brake was installed to make the dive more controllable. The wings and tail have been completely taken over by the Ar 240. As drive two motors Daimler- Benz DB 603 were built, each with 1750 hp. The Ar 240 A-04 served as the prototype for the Ar 440 and has been tested 1943/1944 at the test site of Rechlin.

The end of 1944, the project was terminated since the scarce resources were needed now for jet aircraft. An application was not made.
