Arakan Mountains

Fdep1 The Arakan Yoma mountain range (also Arakan Yoma or Chin Mountains ) is a mountain range on the border between India and Myanmar ( Burma) and forms the south-eastern foothills of the Himalayas. It lies in the western part of Myanmar in Chin and Arakan formerly called the Rakhine State, is spreading in the Indian states of Mizoram and Manipur and passes into the Mizo Mountains. Northeast of the Patkai Mountains joins. To the south, the Arakan Yoma mountain range follows the Burmese coast, until it falls into the Bay of Bengal on the Cape Negrais.

The highest peak is located at 3053 m, in the southern Chin State Nat Ma Taung the (Victoria Hill). To the south, the top of the mountain is steadily decreasing. On the Indian side, the mountains reach 2164 m in Phawngpui ( Blue Mountain ). The mountains are mostly forested with pine and teak.

The area of the Arakan Yoma mountain range is predominantly inhabited by the Zo.
